COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Columbus teenager was arrested on numerous charges after he was seen allegedly driving at speeds near 100 mph while being twice the legal alcohol limit on Tuesday morning.
A Columbus Police Department (CPD) officer witnessed a car traveling south on State Road 11 at an extremely high rate of speed just after midnight, according to law enforcement. The officer stopped the vehicle near the intersection of State Road 11 and Spear Road.
Officers allege the driver, Evan Taylor, 19, had slurred speech and difficulty maintaining his balance. The suspect supposedly failed multiple field sobriety tests and later provided a breath sample of .16% Br.A.C.
Taylor was placed under arrest and transported to Bartholomew County Jail on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Endangerment), Operating a Vehicle With a Breath Alcohol Level of .15% or Greater, and Illegal Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage.
