WASHINGTON D.C. — Congresswoman Erin Houchin (R-Ind.-09) welcomed Dearborn County Sheriff Shane McHenry as her guest at the State of the Union delivered by President Joe Biden on Tuesday night.
“I would like to thank Congresswoman Erin Houchin for the opportunity to represent my fellow law enforcement officers across southern Indiana at the State of the Union,” said Sheriff McHenry. “We are all facing challenges across the nation, especially law enforcement. I look forward to working with her to help address those issues.”
Sheriff McHenry is a lifelong resident of Dearborn County. In 1995, he graduated from South Dearborn High School, studied at Indiana University, and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. McHenry has spent most of his 25-year law enforcement career as a detective, focusing primarily on narcotic investigations. He has received the Excellence in Law Enforcement award four times and was named the Tom Cochran Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2005.
