COLUMBUS, Ind. – Last weekend, four finalist teams from Columbus North High School and CSA New Tech pitched their business plans at the finals of the Bartholomew County Maverick Challenge for a chance at winning cash prizes and a complimentary Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce membership as part of the youth entrepreneurship initiative.
The Maverick Challenge is designed to give high school students hands-on experience in the practice of entrepreneurship through its rounds of pitches and digital curriculum on foundational business concepts. Since its inception in 2008, more than $100,000 has been awarded, and thousands of students have participated.
In Bartholomew County, Siddhant Jain of North High School was awarded first place for his pitch, Sid’s Studio. Second place went to Haylee Cain of CSA New Tech for her plan, TeenReady Staffing.
Siddhant Jain of Sid’s Studios, a business that is fully operational, will represent Bartholomew County at the regional finals on February 18.
