SCIPIO, Ind. – American Structurepoint Inc. and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) remind residents that a public information meeting is set for Tuesday, January 10, to outline a roadway improvement project along State Road 7 in Jennings and Bartholomew Counties. The meeting, at Scipio Elementary School, on S.R. 7, provides an opportunity for residents to learn about the project, view displays, and ask questions.
The $27.8 million plan includes safety and mobility improvements between U.S. 50 in North Vernon and just north of U.S. 31 in Columbus. Shoulders along much of the S.R. 7 corridor will be widened to six feet. Auxiliary or passing lanes will be added along the route. Intersection and drainage improvements are also included.
Bids open on the project in early 2026 with construction starting once the contract is awarded.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. so the public can view displays and interact with INDOT personnel prior to the meeting. A formal presentation begins at 6 p.m. Get more information on the project here.
Questions and comments may be submitted in person at the hearing, on the project website, or via mail or email to Hannah Walker with American Structurepoint.
