INDIANAPOLIS – The National Weather Service (NWS) has provided an update on the winter storm, which has large parts of the south-central region of the state under a Winter Storm Warning until 7 a.m. Saturday.

The following is an update by Bartholomew County Emergency Management, which was briefed by NWS.
What Is Known
- Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. for Bartholomew County
- Very windy conditions with 35 mph gusts
- Dangerous wind chills through Sunday as low as -20°
- Less snow fell than anticipated
What You Can Do Now
- Monitor the forecast closely
- Prepare for potential travel impacts and power outages
- Make preparations to protect animals. Bring them inside if possible
- Consider alternate holiday/travel plans
- Remember to use caution if power outages occur and alternate sources of heat are utilized
- Keep phones charged, and have extra batteries for flashlights in the event of a power outage
- Have an emergency vehicle kit in your car if you must travel. Blankets, water, snacks, flashlight, jumper cables, a small shovel, sand, and a first aid kit.
