GREENWOOD, Ind. – In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI), Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers issued a challenge Wednesday to Johnson County males to join the “Men to Mentors” campaign.
There is a serious need for Big Brothers in Johnson County– currently, 87% of youth on the Johnson County waiting list are boys and there is an average wait time of around two years.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to have a mentor and benefit from this life-giving program,” said Myers. “I want to challenge the men of Johnson County to step up and accept the call to be a ‘Big’ so we can fill this need in our community.”
BBBSCI matches volunteers with youth who live within 20 minutes of where they live or work so this is a need that can only be resolved through individuals who live or work within Johnson County.
