INDIANAPOLIS – UPDATE: Bartholomew County was placed under a burn ban on Thursday afternoon at the request of the Bartholomew County Commissioners, per Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM).
The ban prohibits campfires, any open burning using wood or other combustible matter, with the exception of grills fueled by charcoal or propane, any burning of debris such as timber or vegetation, including building construction materials, and any use of burn barrels at residences.
BCEM says Bartholomew joins Jennings as area counties currently with burn bans.
Original: Jennings County is under a county-wide burn ban effective Thursday, according to Jennings County Emergency Management.
Citizens are asked to refrain from burning as weather conditions are ripe for fire.
