FRANKLIN, Ind. — The story of Carl Erskine, the man legendary broadcaster Vin Scully said is “living a perfect game,” is coming to the big screen in Franklin, with a showing of “The Best We’ve Got: The Carl Erskine Story.” Erskine has been a pivotal figure in Special Olympics Indiana’s history, and the organization has partnered with Ted Green Films to spread Erskine’s messages of friendship, inclusion, servant leadership, and respect.
The movie plays on Nov. 15 at the Historic Artcraft Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with showtime at 7 p.m. Get tickets on Artcraft’s website or at the door on the night of the show, while supplies last.
“The Best We’ve Got,” premiered on Aug. 11 in Erskine’s hometown of Anderson. The film takes a deep dive into Erskine’s upbringing and his legendary career in Major League Baseball with Jackie Robinson, the first African American to break the sport’s color barrier.
The documentary film also takes viewers on Erskine and his wife’s proudest adventure, the birth and life of their son, who was born with Down syndrome.
