COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers and Major Chris Lane attended the Bartholomew County Fire Chiefs meeting at the Hope Fire Department this week and presented a plaque to local volunteer fire departments for their outstanding contributions to the sheriff’s office, and the citizens of the county.
Sheriff Myers said he appreciated their professionalism, integrity, and support over the past eight years.
The Columbus Fire Department, plus volunteer agencies from Hope, Columbus Township, Harrison Township, Clifford, Elizabethtown, Wayne Township, Southwest Bartholomew County, Hartsville, German Township, and Clay Township were all recognized.
Many areas in Bartholomew County rely on volunteer fire departments for their fire protection. Sheriff deputies often work alongside volunteer firefighters.
