NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on Monday at around 6:30 a.m. to the area of Brownstown Road in reference to a male who was reported to be stealing packages out of mailboxes.
Deputies located a man matching the description of the supposed thief and while questioning the suspect, Anthony Menendez, 22, of North Vernon, officers allegedly found stolen packages on his person.
When deputies tried to detain him, he fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, a taser was used to stop him. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
Menendez is being held in the Jennings County Jail on a $605 bond on the preliminary charges of theft and resisting law enforcement.
