COLUMBUS, Ind. – Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County (HFBC) recently awarded $142,415 in grants from its Community Fund to local nonprofit organizations as part of its third-quarter grants cycle.
Through the generous support of community members, HFBC annually distributes approximately $600,000 to $700,000 in grants to local nonprofits from the unrestricted Community Fund. Community Fund grants help HFBC to meet emerging needs in Bartholomew County in the areas of Youth Development, Substance Abuse, Neighborhood Revitalization, Innovation and Creativity, and Welcoming Community.
Recipients of major grants were:
- Columbus Area Chamber Foundation – $90,000 ($30,000 annually through 2024) for Velocities
- REACH Columbus, IN. – $11,500 to support strategic planning and professional accreditation
- Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators – $10,000 to be used in strategic planning
- Boy Scouts of America, Hoosier Trails Council – $8,400 to support Foundation for Youth
- Students Fund of Hope – $5,000 to support programming in the Hope and Hartsville areas
- Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District – $4,420 for the recycling program
- Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana –$4,275 supporting the Senior Mobile Food pantry
Other smaller grants went to Anderson Center Inc., The Dictionary Project, Family Service inc., NAACP of Bartholomew County, Pride Alliance Columbus Indiana, and The Arc of Bartholomew County.
