COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Bartholomew County man was taken into custody Sunday evening after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) received a report of a suspicious person who supposedly damaged a storm door at a residence earlier in the day.
Brandon M. Weddle, 27, of Columbus, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts of intimidation, two counts of threats, resisting law enforcement, and public intoxication.
Officers found Weddle lying in the driveway of a residence in the 2900 block of Indiana Avenue at around 6:50 p.m. When they approached the man, CPD says he got up and began making threats toward the police.
The suspect allegedly spit on an officer and continued making threats. He was arrested after a short scuffle. Weddle was transported to Columbus Regional Health and then to Bartholomew County Jail.
