COLUMBUS, Ind. – A residential fire in Columbus on the evening of February 22, sent the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), along with firefighters from the Columbus Township, Elizabethtown, Wayne Township, and Clay Township Fire Departments to the 400 block of S. National Road. Responders found a home fully engulfed.
Bartholomew County Fire Inspector, Gene Wever, was in charge of the investigation that concluded recently and it determined that Antonio L. Dickerson, 39, Indianapolis, is supposedly responsible for setting the fire. BCSO detective Dane Duke was assigned to the alleged arson inquiry and alleged threats to the victim.
As a result, a warrant was issued last Friday for the arrest of Dickerson. The suspect was charged with arson and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail where he remains in lieu of a $1 million bond.
