SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) responded to Taco Mix at 205 N. O’Brien St., late Thursday night, where a male had been battered. Officers arrived at 11 p.m. and found Rigoberto Cantu lying on the ground.
EMS was summoned and the victim, who had received several facial injuries, was rushed to Schneck Medical Center. He was placed on life support but later taken off.
The immediate investigation led police to the apartments at 101 E. 7th St., in Seymour. It was there that the officers located the crime scene, which was under a pavilion between two apartment buildings.
SPD investigators were called to process the crime scene and conduct interviews. A suspect was developed and questioned. Detectives allegedly found evidence of the crime on his person, his clothing, and his shoes.
Serafin Trujillo Bautista, 33 of Seymour, was arrested for aggravated battery and taken to Jackson County Jail. The investigation is continuing.
