COLUMBUS, Ind. – During a Tuesday night traffic stop, the Columbus Police Department (CPD) ended up taking into custody the vehicle’s two occupants. Law enforcement pulled over a car for a traffic violation near Seventh Street and Gladstone Avenue, at around 9:30 p.m.
Officers spoke to the driver, Scott Bryant, 55, and the passenger, Courtney Bullington, 31, both of Columbus. After requesting that a police dog be brought to the scene, authorities say the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to the smell of narcotics inside the vehicle.
CPD searched the car and allegedly found fentanyl and a digital scale in the center console. Police also supposedly found narcotics and drug-related items concealed in Bullington’s clothing.
Bryant and Bullington were both arrested, taken to Bartholomew County Jail, and preliminarily charged with possession of a narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
