COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus City Council met Tuesday evening and approved a resolution to make the city an affiliate of Bee City USA. The organization, founded in Asheville, North Carolina, in 2012, is dedicated to preserving pollinator parks. It is Indiana’s first affiliate.
The membership fees for the Bee City USA organization will not come out of the city budget, but rather from the Columbus Parks Foundation’s account.
Columbus Parks and Recreation Department director Mark Jones stated that the public has expressed a desire for more nature experiences from city park properties.
