EDINBURGH, Ind. – Another historical event unfolded late last week for Camp Atterbury, whose mission since 1942 has been to train and mobilize forces.
Because Camp Atterbury is so unique, sometimes that affords the training center special missions. Some examples include housing Italian and German POWs during WWII, President Ford’s Amnesty Progam in 1974, the collection point for Operation Golden Cargo in 1989, deployment facility for Army Expeditionary Civilians.
You can now add to that list the housing of Afghan evacuees in support of Operation Allies Welcome. The refugees began arriving last Thursday.
The outpouring of love for this mission from the community is not going unnoticed. Camp Atterbury expresses its thankfulness to the community for its unwavering support.
