NORTH VERNON, Ind. – A single-vehicle crash on US Highway 50 West in Jennings County, on Tuesday evening, has claimed the life of a Whiteland woman.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office says the initial investigation indicates a car, driven by Rachael L. Salter, 21, of Whiteland, was traveling east on Highway 50W, east of County Road 575W, at around 7:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, her vehicle left the south side of the roadway and then struck a tree.
Salter sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner’s Office.
Toxicology results are pending. The investigation is ongoing, but speed is believed to be a factor.
