COLUMBUS, Ind. – Indiana State Police (ISP) information officer Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said troopers were called to Interstate 65 in Bartholomew County on Wednesday when maintenance crews located bones in a ditch near the northbound lanes.
At first, it was thought the I-65 discovery might have been human bones. ISP says they were examined at the scene and pictures were sent to anthropologists for analysis.
After review, scientists determined that the bones belonged to an animal and were not human remains.
