COLUMBUS, Ind. – The recent “Operation Pullover” that went into effect, and continues through Labor Day, is already paying dividends. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired plate on Tuesday at around 6:30 p.m.
During the stop, a passenger in the car falsely identified herself to deputies. She was later determined to be Nicole Schlapp, 42, of Greensburg. The suspect had several out-of-county warrants. During a search, BCSO allegedly found narcotics, drug-related items, and a 9mm handgun.
Schlapp was arrested, jailed, and charged with false informing, three out-of-county warrants, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a weapon. She remains incarcerated without bond.
“It is not uncommon for traffic stops to lead to more serious drug-related arrests with firearms involved,” said Sheriff Matt Myers. He added, “Firearms in the wrong hands can equal disaster.”
