COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Madison County man was arrested early Monday morning after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) allegedly found stolen property and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
An officer conducted a traffic stop, at around 2:20 a.m., on a vehicle driven by William Streeval, 35, of Anderson, near 16th Street and Lafayette Avenue after observing a license plate violation. A CPD K9 responded, and police say it alerted to the smell of narcotics coming from the car.
During a search, officers reportedly found syringes and a reciprocating saw in the passenger compartment, along with a handgun, two magazines, and a catalytic converter in the trunk. CPD says a credit card and a Garmin GPS, that had previously been reported stolen, was also recovered and returned to the owner.
Streeval was taken into custody and charged with possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
