COLUMBUS, Ind. – It was beautiful weather to start the high school football season Friday night, but unfortunately most of the local teams and fans did not go home happy.
Columbus North was crushed by Gibson Southern as the Bulldogs lost, 43-20. In other games, the Columbus East Olympians were beaten by Whiteland, 28-7; Franklin edged Perry Meridian, 27-21; Seymour was blown out by South Dearborn, 56-26; Norwell blasted Jennings County, 48-6; and Edinburgh outscored Tindley, 15-12.
Next Friday, Columbus East hosts crosstown rival Columbus North for local bragging rights. The game of the week and can be heard on MOJO 102.9, with the pregame at 6:40 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m.
