GREENWOOD, Ind. – Indiana American Water (IAW) is promoting the safe use of personal fireworks as area residents celebrate the Independence Day holiday this weekend by encouraging you to be aware of nearby bodies of water that could be contaminated by fireworks if they are not handled properly.
“We want all of our residents to have a great holiday experience and enjoy fireworks displays, but we are also encouraging everyone to be aware that debris leftover from fireworks may contain harmful compounds that pose a threat to our waterways,” said Indiana American Water President Matt Prine.
IAW asks you to immediately clean up firework debris, dispose of malfunctioning fireworks properly, request low-perchlorate fireworks, and attending to a public, professionally-run, fireworks display.
