COLUMBUS, Ind. – Monday marked the 13-year anniversary of the June 7, 2008, flood that crippled the Columbus and Bartholomew County area. That day, and the weeks afterward, was a period of time that anyone living in south-central Indiana will never forget.
Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) and local police and fire agencies were called early and often to respond to the crisis.
The “100-year flood” claimed two lives. According to BCEM, almost 3000 homes and businesses were impacted causing over $500 million in damages.
Columbus Regional Health was closed for almost five months repairing the damage it suffered.
