COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a Bartholomew man Thursday evening on multiple charges after he reportedly fled on foot from law enforcement in an attempt to evade arrest.
CPD observed a man attempting to hide behind a trash can in the 1200 block of 8th Street at around 7:15 p.m. When the officer exited his patrol car, the man, who was later identified as Craig Pike, 51, of Columbus, began running away. Police caught up to the man near 8th and Reed Streets and a warrant for his arrest was confirmed.
Officers searched the suspect’s backpack and allegedly found drugs and drug-related items inside.
Pike was jailed and charged with resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the Bartholomew County warrant.
