COLUMBUS, Ind. – Six people were busted Friday morning by local law enforcement after a lengthy inquiry that focused on narcotics dealing in Columbus.
Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office SWAT executed a search warrant at a home in the 700 block of Fairview Drive in Columbus, at around 8:30 a.m. A follow-up investigation was conducted at a Columbus auto repair garage located in the 500 block of South Cherry Street. It was subsequently closed down by Columbus Code Enforcement.
The arrests made Friday were the result of a continuation of the Operation Columbus Day investigation involving illegal drugs and firearms. During the sting, officers allegedly found methamphetamine, marijuana, firearms, and a stolen Chevrolet Corvette.
The six people arrested were all from Columbus and include Jeremy W. Sweet, 38, for possession of meth and possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon; Alexus M. Bush, 21, for maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana; Amanda J Cea, 41, for possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and maintaining a common nuisance; Eriberto Sanchez Hernandez, 33, for a warrant (dealing meth) and resisting law enforcement; Alex De Arcia, 33, for three counts of dealing meth, plus two warrants (false informing and operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license); and Nicholas J. Miller, 21, for visiting a common nuisance.
Columbus Chief of Police Michael Richardson stated, “These arrests spotlight the continued hard work by our officers. If you suspect drug activity in your neighborhood, you can submit tips and information anonymously.” Sheriff Matt Myers added, “I said during the March 31st news conference that more arrests were forthcoming and even after being forewarned, these people haven’t stopped.”
Law enforcement officials said additional charges are possible in this ongoing investigation.
