COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County woman was arrested after law enforcement officers found a vehicle that was stolen from a Columbus parking lot early Friday morning at her house. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to the 1000 block of Fifth Street when a man advised police that someone stole his sport utility vehicle. The man told CPD that the vehicle was likely left unlocked and there was an extra key fob inside.
A GPS tracker determined that the vehicle was near Elizabethtown. With the assistance of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the stolen SUV was located. It was parked at a home in the 7600 block of County Road 800N.
After an investigation at the residence, officers arrested Alexus Jenkins, 24, of Columbus. Police also allegedly found marijuana that Jenkins had concealed in her clothing.
Jenkins is facing preliminary charges of auto theft and possession of marijuana.
