COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Animal Care Services (CACS) is urging pet owners to protect their pets from the freezing temperatures and to follow current ordinances concerning the weather.
CACS says domesticated pets, especially short-haired breeds, do not have the same protection as wild animals do against severe cold conditions. They require additional care and proper shelter when they are outside.
Outdoor pets need adequate shelter, including insulation and drinking water. They should also be brought inside when temperatures are below 20 degrees.
