NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The North Vernon Fire Department (NVFD) is taking part in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) nationwide “Prescription Drug Take-Back” initiative this Saturday, October 24.
“Take Back” seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of prescription drugs. The program aims to address the public health issue of medicines that expire in home cabinets and are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse.
Unwanted expired drugs can be brought to NVFD, 2000 N. Madison Ave., next to Walmart, this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All Indiana State Police Posts are also drop-off points for the DEA “Prescription Drug Take-Back” day.
