NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Authorities at the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office say they received a call on Friday regarding a man in Country Squire Lakes who was supposedly asking children to get into his vehicle, which was described as a white Chevrolet Tahoe.
Deputies responded to the area, observed the suspected vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop. An officer allegedly witnessed the driver, Charles Messer, 47, of North Vernon, drinking from an alcohol bottle as he approached the car. After an investigation, the man was taken into custody.
Messer is facing charges of an operating a vehicle while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.
