COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local woman was arrested Sunday evening after she reportedly crashed her car while intoxicated, and resisted arrest. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was called to the 2200 block of Lincoln Park Drive around 9 p.m., in regards to a reckless driver.
The arriving officers say they found a damaged vehicle along with a woman, later identified as Jessica C. Jeffers, 29, of Columbus, who was arguing with another person.
CPD said they detected alcohol on her breath and thought her speech was slurred. She allegedly refused to cooperate with officers when they tried to restrain her.
The woman was transported to Columbus Regional Health (CRH) where she apparently continued to be belligerent. She supposedly bit one hospital security officer and kicked another. While at the hospital, a warrant for a blood draw was obtained for the suspect.
After leaving CRH, Jeffers was booked for battery on public safety official, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, criminal mischief/vandalism, public intoxication, and resisting law enforcement.
