COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local woman was arrested on drug charges after she was stopped by the Columbus Police Department (CPD) for a minor traffic violation on Wednesday evening. Officers pulled over a car near 17th and Franklin Streets, at around 7:30 p.m. The driver was identified as Sasha Penrose, 35, of Columbus.
A CPD canine was brought to the scene and supposedly responded to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers searched the suspect’s car and allegedly found methamphetamine and drug-related items, including three digital scales and smoking pipes.
Penrose was taken into custody and is now facing preliminary charges of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
