COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested two people on drug charges after a traffic stop early Wednesday morning. Shortly before 2 a.m., law enforcement pulled over a vehicle for a minor violation near 10th Street and McClure Road.
Police spoke with the driver, Alison Overfelt, 25, of Columbus, and her passenger, Stephen Wyatt, 57, of Elizabethtown, and said they thought Wyatt was visibly nervous. A K-9 officer was requested and it alerted to the smell of narcotics coming from the vehicle.
While searching the car, CPD allegedly found methamphetamine, Suboxone pills, marijuana, multiple syringes, drug-related items, scales, and corner cut baggies. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
Overfelt was charged with possession of meth, possession of a legend drug injection device, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wyatt was booked for possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of meth, possession of a legend drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
