GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Raymond Denson, a firefighter with the White River Township Fire Department, on a DUI. Deputies say he was allegedly driving 61 mph in a 40 mph zone.
The suspect supposedly failed multiple field sobriety tests and preliminary registered 0.219 on a breathalyzer. He was later remanded to the Johnson County Jail.
The White River Township Fire Department (WRTFD) said, “We are aware of the off-duty arrest of firefighter Denson and are gathering information about the incident. He has been placed on leave. We expect the members of the WRTFD to uphold the personal and professional standards that align with the department’s mission and vision. We are disappointed that this incident does not reflect this. The safety of our community is paramount. Denson is a 17-year veteran with no formal disciplinary actions on file. Comments by the department will be limited to allow the legal processes to be carried out.”
