FRANKLIN, Ind. – After four inmates reportedly tested positive last week, an additional 23 prisoners at the Johnson County Jail have now contracted Coronavirus. Of the 33 inmates who were recently tested, 23 results were positive, with one more pending. Additionally, 30 jail employees were tested and five had positive results.
To help alleviate the problem, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says that it is working cooperatively with the local health department and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) COVID-19 Strike Team. They are currently in the process of completing tests of all inmates and the rest of the jail staff.
According to authorities, they are taking every precaution to keep inmates separated and quarantined and are utilizing the jail’s limited available space to its fullest efficiency.
