GREENWOOD, Ind. – The city of Greenwood announced on Wednesday the cancellation of its 2020 Freedom Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The community celebration attracts about 60,000 people annually, and usually takes place the last Saturday in June each year.
“This was a difficult decision, but we must prioritize the health and safety of citizens,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “Given the current uncertainty regarding public and social activity, we were left with no other choice. A postponement was discussed, but unfortunately, that route is not feasible.”
The Greenwood Freedom Festival/KORN Country 100.3 Musical Fireworks were scheduled for June 27.
