INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) released the latest Coronavirus numbers on Thursday at noon. The most recent statistics show that 17,835 have contracted COVID-19, including 669 new cases in the last 24-hour period. ISDH says a total of 1,007 Indiana residents have died from the disease, which means the state’s fatality rate is 5.6%.
Marion County, which has just pushed back its stay-at-home order until May 15, now has 5,530 cases of the virus. Bartholomew County had another small increase to 250 cases, Jackson County reports 138, Jennings County confirms 75, and Johnson County has 579 cases.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced on Wednesday that the state will be focusing more on contact tracing to better understand how COVID-19 has been transmitted.
