NASHVILLE, Ind. – Brown County Emergency Management (BCEM) is reporting on its Facebook page that Brown County Public Health Awareness and BCEM have decided to issue an “Orange” travel restriction for the county. “Orange” means the travel advisory is a “Watch.”
A Travel Watch means only essential travel, including to-and-from work, emergency situations, and getting gas, groceries, or health needs, is recommended.
The Brown County Commissioners have also sent a letter to Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb requesting that Brown County State Park be closed during the COVID-19 crisis. They say the park being open brings travelers to their community which puts the local residents at risk of Coronavirus being spread to them. The commissioners also say that visitors partake in the county’s limited resources, and the area “only has ONE grocery store, THREE gas stations, and ONE pharmacy.” The letter closed by asking Holcomb to close Brown County State Park and Yellowwood Campground to “discourage the continued unessential and unnecessary travel into our community.”
