COLUMBUS, Ind. – Cummins Inc. reported that it is closing the Columbus mid-range engine plant in Walesboro, beginning at 10 p.m., on Friday, March 20. According to the company, the decision was made because of the shutdown of the Chrysler plant in Detroit which uses the Cummins Dodge Ram engine. The closure is scheduled to last two weeks, until April 6.
Despite the decision to temporarily leave employees without a job, Cummins says that the workers will receive pay during the two week period.
