COLUMBUS, Ind. – At its Tuesday evening meeting, Columbus City Council approved a tax abatement for Rightway Fasteners Inc (RFI), a manufacturing company in Woodside Industrial Park on the city’s south side. Even with the tax abatement, Columbus will collect $425,000 from the manufacturer over the three-year period.
The company is expanding and intends to add nine new jobs within a year and 24 within three years. It also wants to acquire three new coating lines and a heat-treat oven.
Last year, RFI officials came before the council to request a tax abatement, promising to add seven workers by the end of 2019. They actually added 25 in that time frame, and now have 420 employees.
In other business, the council approved a zoning change, from agriculture-preferred to industrial-heavy, as well as annexation for the Deckard Family Trust property, near I-65 and State Road 58.
