NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Sgt. Allen Ritchie of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office was responding to an alarm at ISA Recycling Center early Sunday morning when he received a call about an accident near the same location.
Upon arrival, Ritchie determined that someone had broken into the business, loaded his truck with catalytic converters, and wrecked his truck after leaving. It overturned in the middle of County Road 900W, only 200 yards from ISA Recycling. The man apparently returned to the business and allegedly stole a skid loader, drove it to the accident scene, and unsuccessfully tried to turn his truck back on its wheels. The suspect supposedly then left both vehicles and fled the scene for the second time.
A short time later, Sgt. Ritchie deployed his K-9 partner, Vampir, who found the suspect, Marvin McCall, 57, of Edinburgh, approximately a mile and a half away and he was arrested.
McCall was charged with burglary, two Counts of theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia.
