COLUMBUS, Ind. – Authorities at the Columbus Police Department (CPD) say a local woman was arrested on a drug possession charge after a traffic stop on Wednesday evening. Haley Burton, 21, of Columbus, was pulled over near 8th Street and Hutchins Avenue, around 8:30 p.m., and was discovered not to have a valid driver’s license.
While officers questioned Burton, a CPD canine arrived on the scene and supposedly alerted to the smell of drugs. After a search of Burton’s car, police allegedly found methamphetamine inside the center console.
Burton was taken into custody, transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, and remanded on preliminary charges of possession of meth and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license.
