INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) maintenance crews are beginning mechanical brush cutting across the south-central and southeast districts of the state this month to remove trees, shrubs, and other vegetation which grow adjacent to a number of U.S. and state highways. Clean-up teams will be working on US 50, SR 46, US 31, SR 7, SR 3, SR 135, and a number of other routes.
INDOT will be trimming trees and cutting brush for several reasons, such as to make line-of-sight traffic signs visible again, to reduce asphalt deterioration, and to provide shoulder space for motorists.
Additional treatments for roadside management may also include manual brush cutting for larger limbs or trees, in addition to mowing and litter pick-up.
