COLUMBUS, Ind. – A trio of suspects was arrested on several charges after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) received a report of shots fired at an apartment complex early Thursday. Later, police allegedly recovered a large number of drugs and currency inside the residence.
Officers arrived at an apartment, in the 2400 block of Charleston Place in Columbus, at about 1:10 a.m. and say they found several bullet holes in two nearby apartments. They requested additional law enforcement resources to help with the investigation.
Residents were evacuated from the building and contact was eventually made with Papa Sylla, 24, a tenant in one of the apartments that had been shot into. Police say Sylla told them he was in his apartment with Alhadj Diaw, 25, and Kedisha Brown, 21, both of Columbus, when several men wearing ski masks tried to push their way inside and fired shots at his door. Nobody was injured.
Law enforcement secured a search warrant for the apartment and supposedly found hundreds of THC vape cartridges, approximately two pounds of marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms, as well as over $13,000 in cash. Sylla, Diaw, and Brown were all taken into custody.
The shooting remains under investigation. If you have information about the incident, call CPD.
