COLUMBUS, Ind. – Off-duty Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputy Brandon Sellers was traveling southbound on Interstate 65 on Tuesday afternoon, near the 76-mile marker, when a vehicle came into his lane and just missed striking his patrol car. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the driver, Daniel Malnar, 37, of Illinois.
Another BCSO deputy was later called to the scene and asked to bring a K-9. Law enforcement says the police dog alerted to the smell of narcotics inside the car. Syringes, a spoon, and several pills were allegedly found.
Malnar was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of a legend drug injection device.
