COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man is in custody after he fled from the Columbus Police Department (CPD) during a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for an expired license plate near 7th and Chestnut Streets at approximately 2 p.m.
Police say the driver of the car, later identified as Marlon Cowan Jr., 43, of Columbus, refused to stop and quickly turned into a north/south alley. He allegedly continued driving and eventually exited his vehicle near the 500 block of 8th Street. After a short foot pursuit, CPD says he was found at a nearby residence.
Cowan was taken into custody, transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, and preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement, driving with a suspended license, and a prior conviction.
