COLUMBUS, Ind. – On Wednesday, Columbus Firefighters responded to a service call at the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites after a pet went missing from a guest room. Columbus Firefighters arrived on the scene and learned that Molly, a 2 year-old cat, was last seen Tuesday evening after her owners went to sleep.
When crews arrived at the lodge, they began investigating a hole in the wall located underneath the sink which is where they believed the cat went. Initially, firefighters could not see the cat inside the hole, but they were confident that’s where it was. They then worked with motel management to remove some of the drywall, and afterward could see the pet hiding behind the bathtub area in a void space.
Despite being able to see the cat, firefighters still could not reach her, and she also appeared scared to come out. After the cat refused to come out for quite some time, crews got creative and brought in the station’s leaf blower. Firefighters placed it into the void space opposite of where the cat was seen and blew air into the space, and the cat finally ran free. CFD reports that the cat was not injured during the incident.
