COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) responded to a residential fire early Saturday morning, at 810 Rocky Ford Rd., after a passerby called 911 and reported a house was in flames.
When firefighters got to the scene around 3:30 a.m., the home was fully involved. A large section of the roof and wall collapsed prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
With heavy fire throughout the house, CFD utilized the aerial ladder truck to apply water from above. The blaze was brought under control in about 45 minutes.
Investigators said the home was vacant and in the process of being remodeled. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. Damages are estimated at $160,000 and the blaze resulted in a total loss.
According to Bartholomew County GIS, the property is owned by Homes By Kenno LLC.
