COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Parks and Recreation Board approved the general, capital, and The Commons budgets for 2020 on Thursday afternoon. The Commons budget is subject to the approval of the board at The Commons.
The general fund budget total is almost $5 million, The Commons budget total is about $1.4 million, and the capital budget total is $800,000. The budgets now go to city council for first and second readings in October.
In other business, recreation manager Jacob Hendrix gave feedback about the moving of the Columbus Farmers’ Market from the Cummins parking lot to the city hall parking lot across First Street. Patrons seemed to be generally pleased, citing the greater presence of trees and an environment conducive to meandering, while vendors tended to have misgivings because of the lower profile of the location.
