COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was traveling in the 800 block of Pearl Street on Wednesday evening when he saw a male subject he knew had an outstanding arrest warrant.
When Deputy Dylan Prather tried to talk with the man, later identified as Shawn Mace, 47, of Columbus, he supposedly fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, the officer caught up with the suspect and allegedly a short altercation took place before Mace was eventually taken into custody. He was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, and an outstanding warrant.
Deputy Prather is a member of the ILP Unit which is a collaboration among the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department, and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office. They primarily focus on high profile offenders who are involved with drug-related crimes and property crimes throughout the county.
